• Oaths or Affirmations – The notary administers an oath (a sworn promise, often referencing a higher power) or an affirmation (a solemn promise without religious reference) where you declare that the statements in your document are true.

• Copy Certifications – The notary certifies that a copy of a document is a true and accurate reproduction of the original. Oregon law does not allow notaries to certify public records or documents that can be recorded with a government office.

• Commercial Protests – The notary records the dishonor of a negotiable instrument, such as a check that is returned for insufficient funds.
